CM Supporting Two-Node Deployment

Availability

This feature is available since MogDB 3.1.0.

Introduction

By improving DCF (Distributed Consensus Framework) and introducing the third-party gateway IP, self-arbitration of CM component can be achieved so that CM can support two-node deployment.

Benefits

This feature realizes high availability of the database cluster and further improves the cost competitiveness of the product.

Description

In the two-node deployment, a third-party gateway IP is introduced as the arbitration node so that the CM component realizes the majority-based self-arbitration mechanism. In the normal cluster network, either of the CM primary and standby instances initiates a vote, as long as it communicates with the gateway IP, it will increase the number of votes it has already owned by 1, so as to achieve the purpose of majority decision. In the abnormal cluster network, once either of the CM primary and standby instances finds that it can only communicate with the gateway IP, it thinks that there may be a failure in the other side, and then the primary node will make the standby node offline and the standby node will decide whether to execute automatic failover according to the configuration item.
